

Volunteers can also help to distribute aid to the homeless on The Canteen Run in Champaign. Individuals, families, service clubs, churches, and/or groups are encouraged to register and partner with the organization to serve as a volunteer when emergencies arise.

These efforts not only helped local families, but also those working tirelessly to restore power. More than 500 meals were provided to families and cold beverages and snacks were served to 90 first responders and city workers. The most recent local efforts occurred during the recent power outage when The Salvation Army, with the help of more than 70 volunteers, served 330 households with 380 sack lunches and 140 snack bags.
